Fighting the Mouse Wars today. Emptying the desk and scrubbing all the drawers etc. with disinfectant.
Not just "a" mouse, more an infestation.
Good side -- throwing out a lot of things! I'm hoping momentum will carry me forward to some more overdue cleaning up in this work space!
But in the meantime, there are distinct moments of IIITBTW, WDIL...

ewwwww.... I've had those, too...
I have all four drawers washed out, and one re-filled and re-installed. I haven't found a NEST...that was my big worry. Continuing to THROW OUT little scraps of nothing...
oh, yuck...yuck..mice don't bother me per se...it's just that I think they belong outside...I've been known to catch them and let them go outside...and then, I also have cats which are a good deterent in the house....so sorry for the inside yuck...
think of em as a squirrel without a bushy tail...Just kidding I hate mice. That's why I have cats!
Yuck.
I will never forget... I worked in an office that had a fridge that had a tiny hole in the back. Something just didn't sit right with me. I never kept things in the fridge overnight. But coworkers did.
One day, as some coworkers were getting their lunch, they noticed mouse droppings in the fridge! EEK! The mice had been getting in the fridge overnight and eating people's leftovers!
Well...I got all the drawers scrubbed out and re-installed -- mouse promptly roared through them again...with me sitting AT the desk mind you.
My technique now is randomly to pound the side of the desk and shriek aloud.
It may not deter the mouse but it has a marked effect on any parishioners within earshot [grins]
Oh my. *shudders* mice are so icky. Yes, I would maintain the shreiking procedure - why suffer in the mice-dom alone? Perhaps someone will hear and help fix this whole dilemma.
